Sixth Form Admissions
Admission to WGS Sixth Form
The Sixth Form Admissions Process
Places in Withington’s Sixth Form are limited and prospective students who wish to apply should consider registering their interest in participating in the Sixth Form preliminary interview process during late November/early December.
We recommend this route for girls who know their A-Level subject choices and whose predicted grades meet our entry requirements (a minimum of six 7-9 grades at GCSE, with 8-9 grades in the subjects you wish to study). Based on the outcome of this interview, some candidates will be invited to make an application, after which a second interview would take place before 20th March 2020. The first round of conditional offers would be made by 27th March 2020.
Sixth Form enquiries made after 15th November 2019 may not be taken forward until we know the outcome of the preliminary interviews at the earliest, or possibly until the outcome of the first round of conditional offers is known.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of the Sixth Form admissions process by Friday 27th March 2020.
We may not be in a position to accept further Sixth Form applications until we know the outcome of the first two rounds of interviews. The decision to accept further applications may be determined by the availability of places on the A-Level courses the candidate wishes to take.
If you have any questions regarding the admissions process and events, please do not hesitate to contact our Admissions Officer, Ms Jane Ellis, on 0161 249 3371 or email@example.com
The requirement for girls wishing to enter the Sixth Form from another school is a minimum of six 7-9 grades at GCSE, with 8-9 grades in the subjects you wish to study.
If, on GCSE Results Day, the required grades have been attained, pupils holding conditional offers are asked to inform us, upon which they will be invited into school to bring in their GCSE results and collect a Welcome pack.
If you are prepared to take advantage of all the opportunities on offer at Withington, you would have the very best chance of achieving great A-Level results, enabling you to take the next steps to realise your hopes and ambitions for the future.
Our academic results speak for themselves. Withington is one of the top dozen gateways for entry into Britain’s best universities and you would be joining a friendly, vibrant and supportive community while benefiting from excellent teaching and the school’s well-established track record in supporting pupils through their university applications process.
