GCSE pupils shine at WGS

It was a joyous gathering of soon-to-be Sixth Form students and their parents at Withington Girls’ School as GCSE results envelopes were opened to smiles, hugs and happy tears.

“We’re so happy to share this moment with our Year 11s. There’s been a truly celebratory atmosphere here at Withington today as we mark this important milestone for our pupils and their families,” says Headmistress, Mrs Sarah Haslam.

Withington’s GCSE pupils have reaped the benefit of their commitment and focus over the past two years – which, Mrs Haslam points out, never faltered, despite the challenges, whether they were learning at home or at School – with a fantastic set of results that gives them a confident start to their A Levels.

“Sixth Form places for our own GCSE pupils are guaranteed here at Withington. As we’d expect of our pupils, however, they aimed high and the vast majority have chosen to continue with us for Sixth Form. They will be joined by a small group of new starters in September and we are very much looking forward to sharing the next step of their educational journey with the students who will become the Class of 2023. Congratulations to them all.”
