Arts Award Discover

Thirty-three brilliant Junior Artists have completed the Arts Award Discover course and received their certificates in a special assembly this week.

We are lucky to run Arts Award Programmes across the School and our Junior pupils have the opportunity to enrol onto both the Discover and Explore courses throughout the academic year. The girls have just completed the initial Arts Award level and were inspired by an Under the Sea theme. The girls loved creating 3D jellyfish with decoupage papers and colourful yarns. They also explored work by different artists and following this, they created collages, sketches, mixed-media pieces and painted beautiful watercolours. At the end of the course, the girls shared their fantastic portfolios with friends and documented each other’s evaluations.

The Arts Award Explore course will commence straight after the half term break and will focus on the theme of Fantasy Garden. The girls will make 3D fairies, learn the process of silk painting and they will meet a practicing Artist. All of this activity will be recorded in a personal art logbook. On successful completion of this course, the girls will receive an Arts Council England accredited qualification.
