Annual Alumnae and Former Staff Reunion

The Development Office extends a warm invitation to all former pupils and staff of Withington Girls’ School to join us at this year’s Annual Open Reunion on 18th June 2016 from 12-4pm.

This year’s Reunion promises to be a very special event as we pay a special tribute to Mrs Sue Marks, who will be retiring from her post as Headmistress of Withington at the end of this year, and celebrate the 90th birthday of former Withington Classics Teacher Miss Amy Morris.

During the course of the day there will be a musical interlude performed by current pupils, presentations and tributes to Mrs Sue Marks and Miss Amy Morris, School Archive displays and the chance to catch up with old friends and former teachers. A summer luncheon, glass of bubbly and light refreshments will be provided.

There will also be special class year reunions taking place for the following years:

Class of 1956: 60 Year Anniversary
Class of 1966: 50 Year Anniversary
Class of 1976: 40 Year Anniversary
Class of 1991: 25 Year Anniversary
Class of 2006: 10 Year Anniversary

We’re on the lookout for year group ambassadors for these special classes, to help us coordinate your year and ensure that we’re reaching out to everyone who might wish to return to School to celebrate. If you belong to one of these year groups and can help us then please let us know. As a special treat for your year group anniversary, if 10-15 people or more from your year confirm attendance at the event, we’ll provide a celebratory cake to help make your day even more memorable!

The Reunion will be taking place in our brand new Hub, opened officially in September by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Gloucester, and afternoon tea will be served on the patio of the new Junior School. So, if you haven’t yet had chance to see the School’s stunning new buildings, the afternoon of the Reunion will be a great opportunity.

Tickets for the day are £10 and include all refreshments. You can book your tickets online here or contact the Development Office by emailing development@wgs.org or calling 0161 249 3377.

If you have any queries, or would like to volunteer your help as an ambassador for your year group, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to welcoming you back to School on 18th June!
