Oxbridge Offers: A Delighted Dozen

Twelve Withington girls have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, ten of which are conditional offers.

The delighted dozen comprise ten current WGS students and two of 2012's
leavers – Katie Mulholland and Katie Robinson – now ready to take up
their university careers.

Offers from Oxford have been made to: Jenny Flynn – Balliol College, History; Sarah Jackson – Magdalen College – Psychology; Katie Mulholland – Jesus College, Chemistry; Bethan Murray – Corpus Christi – Material Science and Katie Robinson – St Edmund Hall, Geography.

Cambridge offers have been achieved by: Rosie Hamilton – Newnham College, History; Harriet Macleod – St Catharine's College, Human, Social and Political Sciences; Naomi Rasmussen – Newnham College, Classics; Eliza Rooney – Gonville and Caius, Economics; Hunadda Sabbagh – Downing College, French and Spanish; Charlotte Senn – Magdalene College, Natural Sciences and Sarah Slattery – Churchill College, Classics.

"We are delighted with the results of this year's Oxbridge applications and congratulate all the girls who have been made unconditional or conditional offers. Their success is just reward for the sustained hard work put in by both the students and their teachers, and a sign of the School's determination to stretch our most able pupils," said Headmistress, Mrs Sue Marks.

"The vast majority of our Sixth Formers secure places on very competitive courses in the highly selective universities of their choice. Withington is second most successful school in the country in securing places at top universities."

Mrs Marks added: "Our relatively low fees, alongside our consistently outstanding examination results, saw Withington again named ‘best value school in the country' by the Financial Times in September."
