GCSE Drama: Love Songs

Love and love songs were the starting points for the Drama group’s first project on their GCSE course. It comprised four dramatic pieces involving 20 girls – 18 on stage and two on ‘tech’.

Working with the contemporary physical theatre company Frantic Assembly, the group learned new styles and techniques which enabled them to innovate their own choreography for their pieces.  Later on, they found ways to add layers of narrative and text.

In November, the girls watched Frantic’s latest show, ‘Lovesong’, which explored the ways that love changes over a lifetime.  Their own Love Songs are their love stories: those of themselves,  friends and families and, of course, their imaginations.
