School Nurse
Our School Nurse is Sister Jo Lees who is on duty throughout each school day. In addition to dealing with pupils’ medical needs if they feel ill in School, the role of the School Nurse involves the promotion of health education and health awareness throughout the School population.
We operate an open door system during break and lunch-time, when pupils can visit the medical room with any issues they wish to discuss. At other times during the school day an appointment is required, giving pupils an opportunity for private consultation.
If appropriate, the School Nurse may refer a pupil to the School Counsellor. The Nurse’s role within school also involves the promotion of health education through talks within the PSHCE programme. She works closely with the PSHCE Co-ordinator to provide girls with knowledge and awareness of health related issues, enabling them to make informed choices regarding their health throughout their time at Withington and in the future. All health promotion is prepared within national frameworks and the School’s policies.
