Sixth Form girls make up the majority of our Senior sports teams and many are appointed games captains and house captains. Sixth Form girls run lunchtime clubs in football, badminton, volleyball and basketball and help to organise and officiate at house matches.
Withington enters County Tournaments, National Schools’ Competitions, local rallies and invitation events. The PE Department offers a Ski trip every year and has enjoyed major tours to the USA, South Africa and Malta.
There are twice weekly lunchtime fitness sessions led by a personal trainer and large numbers of girls take advantage of this service.
All Lower Sixth girls undertake a Sports Leadership course and Sixth Formers are encouraged to help with Junior School lessons. This helps to develop planning and communication skills and also fosters healthy links between Junior and Senior girls.
A wide range of matches are played against other schools throughout the year giving enthusiasts the chance to extend their playing experience. Several girls play sport at County level and we currently have a number of girls who are involved in National level Lacrosse, Netball and Hockey.
