There is a thriving extra-curricular drama programme at Withington which
extends and complements work undertaken within the curriculum.
Last summer, Withington put on a spectacular performance of The Phantom of the Opera. Exceptional performances from cast and the orchestra, amidst spectacular optical illusions, dramatic set and costumes, all brought to the show to life. Director, Mrs Sargent, said “Rarely performed by schools due to the challenging libretto, orchestral score, varied choreography which demands so many disciplines, endless costumes, incredible staging, props and special effects, this musical has been a real challenge for all involved, both on stage and back stage.”
Drama clubs and workshops are offered to various year groups and a full
technical training programme, covering all aspects of theatre lighting,
sound and show management, is offered to girls of all ages.

Grammar School, including The Merry Wives of Windsor, Joseph K and The Riot Club.
Withington girls have recently successfully auditioned for a variety of
companies including the National Youth Theatre, The Royal Exchange
Theatre and The Contact Theatre.
