Welcome from our Senior School Headmistress | Withington Girls' School, Manchester

Welcome from our Headmistress

“Our pupils’ results at GCSE and A Level are truly exceptional.

But there’s so much more to Withington’s Senior School than academic achievements.”

Mrs Sarah Haslam
Headmistress

Within our school’s welcoming environment, every girl is known and understood. Because our talented teaching staff are dedicated to enabling every girl to reach her full potential – both in the classroom and beyond…

A lifetime love of learning is instilled in our pupils. They’re challenged by a broad and balanced curriculum, with a wide range of optional subjects offered to suit our pupils and their interests. We also offer an impressively diverse range of extra-curricular activities, including art, music, theatre and an exciting variety of community projects both locally and overseas. All pupils, whatever their ability, are encouraged to enjoy sport. And there are opportunities for competitive participation at house, school, county, regional and national levels.

Pastoral care is at the heart of our school.

Heads of Year and Form Tutors monitor the progress and welfare of each pupil, while trained Sixth Form Wellbeing Ambassadors offer advice and guidance to younger pupils and the school health team liaises with outside professionals.

Year 7 is our main point of entry to the Senior School, although places in other year groups occasionally become available. Please contact admissions@wgs.org.

Ready for your daughter to fulfil her potential? Visit us at one of our Open Days or arrange an individual tour by calling 0161 249 3371.

We’d love to welcome you soon.
