Transition to Senior School | Withington Girls' School

Joining us in Year 7…

“I am really proud of how I have settled into Withington Girls’ School and I really like meeting new teachers and making new friends.”

Year 7 pupil

Our smooth transition process begins as soon as we meet your daughter.

She’ll discover our friendly and welcoming environment, where she will soon feel comfortably at home.

You’ll get to know us through our Open Events and Taster Days – and decide whether we’re the right fit for your daughter before you apply.

Then, if you accept our offer of a place, we’ll make sure you have all the information you need for your daughter to make a successful start with us. A member of our transition team will visit your daughter at her primary school for a chat and to reassure her ahead of our Induction Day in June.

On the Induction Day she will meet her Form Tutor and take part in some taster lessons. In the afternoon, there’s the opportunity for you to join her and meet her Form Tutor and Head of Year.

Induction continues in September and your daughter will also take part in our legendary Ghyll Head (Lake District) trip. This is for all Year 7 pupils and offers a fantastic bonding opportunity with their new classmates.

It’ll be just the start of them making lasting Withington memories together!

Of course, this is also the beginning of your Withington journey as a parent, too. You’ll have the opportunity to meet staff and other parents at a Welcome Evening. We’ll also be sending you regular progress reports, and we invite you to attend Parents’ Evening to discuss your daughter’s progress with her teachers

Welcome to Withington.
