Mrs Healey
Going on the Gambia trip with WGS I thought, “Can I really make a difference?”
I took part in the 2014 trip and soon found that even if you do something small, such as teaching a song to a young child, you are making a difference, you are building a base for them to further their learning in a way that they may not have had before.
Even in those few short days you learn to live more simply for a little while: many people view their hot showers, flushing toilets, and manual light switch as necessities, while there are many people all over the world living without these things and living happily.
Dancing to the African beat, haggling in the markets, the night-time river trip; to share such experiences with some of our girls was priceless and unforgettable.
