Junior School Sport | Withington Girls' School, Manchester

Sport

Our aim is to help all our pupils to develop a life-long love of physical activity and to appreciate that a healthy, active lifestyle helps us in all areas of our wellbeing.

We provide a wide range of sporting activities, encouraging all the girls to have a go and to find their ‘forever sports’.

In the process, they develop their skills and confidence, both within curriculum lessons and through the outstanding extra-curricular provision.

Junior pupils participate in netball, pop lacrosse, hockey, football, swimming, indoor athletics, cross-country, gymnastics, dance, trampolining, tag rugby, basketball, athletics, tennis, rounders and cricket.

All pupils are encouraged to be the best that they can be, whatever their ability, and to have fun whilst learning how to be part of a bigger team.

There are lots of opportunities to take part in inter-school fixtures and competitions and our pupils join in with enthusiasm, determination and a sense of fair-play. Our teams have achieved considerable success in recent years in netball, rounders, cross-country, pop lacrosse, football and tennis.
