Photos of Our New Sports Centre

Our inspirational new sports facilities were officially opened by Dame Sarah Storey on 5th July 2018. The Sports Centre is already proving a real asset to the school, and we hope that it will encourage greater participation and a deeper enjoyment of compulsory and extra-curricular sport and exercise among our girls in the future.

We are delighted to be able to share photos of this stunning new building below.

Dedicated Entrance and Reception Area

The new Sports Centre has a dedicated reception area. The entrance is light and airy, with a welcoming atmosphere and a ‘sports club’ feeling. This area gives the girls, their parents and visiting teams a place to socialise and a ‘sense of arrival’ when they walk into our facility.

Improved Fitness Suite

The new improved Fitness Suite is a larger space, boasting state of the art equipment and the potential for whole class PE lessons to take place inside. The Fitness Suite can also be used to train and condition our sports teams and elite athletes. The larger space and better equipment will mean that more girls can make use of these facilities before and after school, and at lunchtimes.

Upgraded Sports Hall and New Changing Rooms

Our current Sports Hall has been refreshed and modernised, and the acoustics have been improved. Two new club-style changing rooms have been created for outdoor sports, and the previous changing rooms have also been upgraded. The Sports Hall and new changing facilities now allow pupils and visiting teams direct access to the playing fields.

Multipurpose Mind and Body Studio

The new Mind and Body Studio is a large, light multipurpose space used for activities such as yoga and dance. We know that not all of our girls enjoy team-sports, so this new space allows us to offer them a wider range of options such as martial arts, table tennis, aerobics and Zumba. With more on offer, we hope that all of our girls will find an activity they enjoy, encouraging them to stay active and look forward to physical activity throughout their time at school, not just when taking part in compulsory PE lessons.

The Annual Fund for 2018/19 is aiming to raise funds to provide equipment for the Mind and Body Studio, including a screen, projector and sound equipment to enable the girls to use this space to its full potential for dancing and other fitness activities. This new equipment will allow pupils to play dance music and copy exercise moves from videos. Older girls will be encouraged to run extra-curricular clubs from this space and the equipment will also be used for activities such as yoga, Zumba, aerobics and martial arts.
