Community Links

Withington’s ethos centres around respect and personal responsibility. Strong links with our local community provide opportunities for our pupils to play an active role in community initiatives and to act on the responsibilities we have towards others.

Citizenship Day

Our annual Citizenship Day is a yearly reminder to think carefully about our roles as citizens in a variety of communities – our school community, our local community and our global community. And not only to think about it – but to do something ourselves to contribute our time and talents to benefit others. Pupils undertake a variety of community projects and everyone finishes the day with a better sense of their roles and responsibilities as citizens locally and globally.

Senior Citizens’ Christmas party

We have hosted a Christmas Party for local senior citizens for many years. One of the highlights of the festive season, more than 200 Senior Citizens enjoy performances by the Senior Choir and Orchestra and a tea party prepared by pupils and staff. A wonderful occasion where links are forged across the generations.

Our commitment to help those around us extends all year round with our food collections for Fallowfield and Withington Foodbank and Emmeline’s Pantry and individual fundraising ventures or volunteering by both staff and pupils for various appeals and charities.
