Of course, we know that this process can vary between schools. So please be reassured that we’re here to make every stage as smooth as possible.
Our Admissions team is here to help. Get in touch if you have any questions at any stage.
Age 7-11
Girls are admitted into two Year 3 classes, with additional places available in Year 4. Entry is by an entrance assessment and a short, taught task for admission the following September. A few places may be available for Year 5 and Year 6.
Age 11-16
All girls are required to sit an entrance examination (English, Maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning) – usually taken in January for entry into Year 7 the following September. Following the examination day, successful candidates will be invited to attend an informal interview.
Age 16-18
For students wishing to enter the Sixth Form from another school, we ask for a minimum of six 7-9 grades at GCSE (with 8-9 grades in the subjects you wish to study). We’ll also consider your previous school reports and invite you for an interview with the Sixth Form team.
We’re so proud of our bursary programme. It means that we can try and ensure that girls with potential still have the opportunity to join Withington, regardless of their family’s financial position.
Any financial assistance we offer is means-tested. It is available for pupils joining Year 7 in Senior School and Year 12 in Sixth Form, plus a limited number for pupils joining our Junior School in Years 5 and 6.
