Open Days and Visits
There are few things more important than choosing the right school for your child. The special atmosphere at Withington Girls’ School encourages and extends each girl not just academically but in every area of her life. We invite you to come and visit us and see for yourself all that Withington has to offer.
Whole School Open Days
Our next Whole School Open Events are scheduled to take place in the Autumn of 2020 – on Thursday 5 November from 4.30-6.30pm and Saturday 7 November from 10am-12 noon. Please refer to our timetables for Year 7, Junior School and Sixth Form entry for a full list of planned dates for September 2021 admissions.
If you would like us to keep in touch with you about forthcoming events and register an early interest in applying, please complete our enquiry form. We will keep those who register their interest in entry in 2021 updated on arrangements for Open Events and for the Entrance Examination/Assessments.

While we would always advise prospective applicants and their parents to visit Withington Girls’ School before applying for a place at the School, we are not currently able to offer individual visits to the School and our Open Events planned for the Autumn term will be subject to government guidance that may be in place at that time.
Prospective parents and pupils are warmly invited to contact our Admissions Officer, Ms Jane Ellis, on email@example.com or 0161 249 3371 if they wish to be contacted once we are able to offer visits again.
The main entry points to Withington are Year 3, Year 7 and Year 12 with some availability of spaces in other Years. Please see our Admissions timetable page to find out about application deadlines and other useful dates.
We were delighted that our 2019 A-Level and GCSE results confirmed WGS as the best performing independent school in the North of England in the Sunday Times Parent Power tables.
2019 A-Level and GSCE results also reflected particular success among our pupils in achieving the very top grades; 32% of A-level subject grades were passed at A*, while 56% of GCSE results were achieved at Grade 9 or A* Distinction in Further Maths. The vast majority of 2019 leavers achieved or exceeded their offers to study the subject of their choice at the university of their choice.
Withington Girls’ School’s most recent inspection was a Regulatory Compliance Inspection carried out by ISI in September 2017.
The School was judged to be fully compliant with all of the Regulatory Standards. GCSE and A-level results are described as ‘well above’ and ‘far above the national average for maintained schools’ respectively.
If you would like to arrange an individual visit, please contact our Admissions Officer, Ms Jane Ellis, on firstname.lastname@example.org or 0161 249 3371.
