2. Visit Us

We strongly recommend that you visit us to learn more about a Withington education. You are invited to attend our Sixth Form Information Evening, as well as the Whole School Open Events in the Autumn term.

The Sixth Form Information Evening offers the chance to learn more about life in our Sixth Form and to meet our Sixth Form team as well as Heads of Departments to discuss A Level courses.

3. Statement of Interest

Once you have Registered Your Details (see above), you will be invited to complete a Statement of Interest form to tell us your A Level subject choices and your predicted grades

Please note these should meet our entry requirements – a minimum of six 7-9 grades at GCSE, with 8-9 grades in the subjects you wish to study. A grade 9 is required in Mathematics if you wish to take Further Mathematics at A Level.

Please refer to the Sixth Form Admissions Timetable for the deadline to submit your Statement of Interest.

After the deadline, we will invite a number of candidates to make a formal application.

4. Apply

Once we have received your application, we ask for references from your current school. You will also be invited to take part in an interview.  This can be in person or online.

If you have missed the Statement of Interest deadline and would still like to apply, please get in touch as we may still have places available.

If you are applying for financial assistance you must indicate your interest in a bursary at the time of completing the application. You will then receive a link to a confidential online bursary application form. This is processed and managed by Bursary Assessment Associates. Please note, it is your parents or guardians who should complete the bursary application form.

We are unable to accept applications for bursary funding made at a later stage due to the allocation of funds.

5. Offers & Acceptance

If we make you an offer, you will need to accept or decline this by the date in your offer letter and a deposit of £250 is needed to secure your place.

In the Summer term, offer holders are invited to a Sixth Form Taster Day where you will meet other students, experience life in our Sixth Form and get a feel for your subject choices.

On GCSE Results Day, you will need to contact us as soon as possible to confirm your results after which you will receive your offer pack.

6. Joining Withington

The first day of term is a team building day for Year 12 and you will take part in different activities with your Form including the annual Crystal Maze event – dome included!

We know that Sixth Form is a big step, as is joining a new school, so we aim to make this transition as smooth as possible. You may feel a little nervous about your new adventure but be assured that there are lots of people here to help and you will feel at home in no time.
