Our Sixth Form (age 16+) offers an exciting, challenging and fulfilling two years. You’ll find diversity, freedom and fun are all celebrated within our welcoming environment.
Please do get in touch with our Admissions team if you have any questions at any stage.
Register your daughter’s details with us to ensure that you are kept up to date with relevant admissions information, including opportunities to visit.
We strongly recommend that you visit us to learn more about a Withington education. You are invited to attend our Sixth Form Information Evening, as well as the Whole School Open Events in the Autumn term.
The Sixth Form Information Evening offers the chance to learn more about life in our Sixth Form and to meet our Sixth Form team as well as Heads of Departments to discuss A Level courses.
Once you have Registered Your Details (see above), you will be invited to complete an online personal statement to tell us about your interests, achievements and aspirations and to let us know your A Level subject choices and your predicted grades.
Please note these should meet our entry requirements – a minimum of six 7-9 grades at GCSE, with 8-9 grades in the subjects you wish to study. A grade 9 is required in Mathematics if you wish to take Further Mathematics at A Level.
Please refer to the Sixth Form Admissions Timetable for more details on the timings of the Sixth Form admissions process.
Once we’ve reviewed your personal statement and checked that your predicted grades meet our entry requirements, we will invite your parents to make a formal application on your behalf.
Once we have received your application, we ask for a reference from your current school. You will also be invited to visit us and take part in an interview. Students located further afield or abroad can do the interview online.
We recognise that Year 11 students considering a move to another school or college for Sixth Form may be exploring a number of options. For this reason our Sixth Form admissions process is flexible. If you have missed a deadline and would still like to apply, please get in touch as we may still have places available.
If you are applying for financial assistance you must indicate your interest in a bursary at the time of completing the application. You will then receive a link to a confidential online bursary application form. This is processed and managed by Bursary Assessment Associates. Please note, it is your parents or guardians who should complete the bursary application form.
We are unable to accept late applications for bursary funding as the allocation of funds will have been decided.
If we make you an offer, you will need to accept or decline this by the date in your offer letter and an acceptance deposit is needed to secure your place.
In the Summer term, offer holders are invited to a Sixth Form Induction Day (Part 1) where you will meet other students, experience life in our Sixth Form and get a feel for your subject choices.
On GCSE Results Day, you will need to contact us as soon as possible to confirm that your results meet our entry requirements after which you will receive your letter confirming your place in Withington’s Sixth Form.
The first day of term is an Induction Day (Part 2) for Year 12 and you will take part in different activities with your Form including the annual Crystal Maze event!
We know that Sixth Form is a big step, as is joining a new school, so we aim to make this transition as smooth as possible. You may feel a little nervous about your new adventure but be assured that there are lots of people here to help and you will feel at home in no time.
