Past Examination Papers
Thank you to those who joined us at our 2020 Virtual Open Events – we hope you found them informative and enjoyable. If you missed this opportunity to discover why Withington is such a sought-after school for academically-able girls, please do watch the recordings of the event and read our Open Event publications. Our academic success is achieved in a happy, purposeful and caring environment with the focus very much on the individual, enabling every girl to fulfil her potential, academically, personally and socially – our pupils share their thoughts in the film below.
Past Papers For Year 7 (Third Form) Entry
Below are links to all the past papers for the last eight years.
Do look at the past papers which helps girls to be familiar with the layout, structure and level of difficulty of the four papers. It’s also helpful to practise timing when going through the papers.
It is reassuring to girls if they know what to expect, but do not try to prepare ‘model answers’. We do not penalise wrong answers so candidates are encouraged to have a go, even when they are unsure. In particular, freshness and spontaneity are rewarded in the English essay paper.
Candidates should not worry if they cannot finish all the questions. The papers are set and marked with the aim of discovering potential, not merely what has been taught. We are trying to discover how candidates think and therefore do not provide answers for any of the papers.
