Open Days and Visits

There are few things more important than choosing the right school for your child. The special atmosphere at Withington Girls’ School encourages and extends each girl not just academically but in every area of her life. We invite you to come and visit us and see for yourself all that Withington has to offer.

There are two ways to visit Withington, either at an Open Day or by arranging an individual visit.

2017 Open Events

It was a pleasure to welcome all the prospective pupils and families who attended our 2017 Open Events . We hope everyone enjoyed their visit as much as Withington pupils and staff enjoyed showcasing our School.

We are hosting two Taster Days – an opportunity for your daughter who is currently in Year 5 or Year 6 to experience lessons at Withington Girls’ School – on Saturday 25th November and Saturday 2nd December.

Sign ups for our Taster Days were very busy at our recent Open Day events, but we do have a limited number of spaces available for the following subjects. Your daughter should choose two subjects per day.

If you wish to book your daughter on to a Taster Day, please email Mrs Catherine Dow on dowc@wgs.org with your full name and title, a contact number, your daughter’s name, date of birth and which date and two subjects she would like to attend. Please note that the German and French Taster sessions are for Year 6 pupils only. Requests will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis.

The main entry points to Withington are Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 7 and Year 12 with some availability of spaces in other Years.

We were delighted that our 2017 A-level results confirmed WGS as the best independent girls’ school the North England and that the vast majority of our 2017 leavers went on to study the subject of their choice at the university of their choice.

Withington Girls’ School’s most recent inspection was a Regulatory Compliance Inspection carried out by ISI in September 2017.

The School was judged to be fully compliant with all of the Regulatory Standards.

GCSE and A-level results for 2013-2016 are described as ‘well above’ and ‘far above the national average for maintained schools’ respectively.
