Head of Mathematics

The role of Head of Mathematics is available from September 2024 and is a permanent, full-time position. The post holder will be expected to lead, inspire, and manage Departmental staff in order to promote the subject; to lead the successful teaching of Mathematics across the age and ability range up to and including Year 13 and to contribute to the wider life of the school as the Head of a core subject.

As a Head of Department at Withington, it is expected that you will go ‘above and beyond’ to continue to enhance the quality of teaching and learning by sharing best practice, excellent resources and ideas. You will be an outstanding role model and classroom practitioner who will lead by example. The Head of Department will maintain a warm and supportive atmosphere that encourages and promotes the dedication, commitment and high expectations expected of all Withington staff.

The role of Teacher of Religious Studies is available from 1st September 2024. It is expected that the post will be between a 0.8 part time role and a full time role. Candidates are invited to express their preference for either part or full time hours. The actual working pattern will be determined by the timetabling constraints of the department and will be discussed and clarified fully at interview. The post holder will be required to teach Religious Studies across all key stages, up to and including A-Level and preparation for university applications.

This role could also include teaching a number of History lessons within the school up to a minimum of Key Stage 3, depending on the interest and experience of the candidate.

This role could also include teaching a number of Spanish lessons within the school up to a minimum of Key Stage 3, depending on the interest and experience of the candidate.

Maternity Cover | Temporary | Part-Time

Withington Girls’ School, The Sunday Times’ North-West Independent School of the Decade 2021, is looking for a well-qualified, experienced Temporary Part Time Teacher of PE to join this happy and outstandingly successful independent day school for girls. The role of Temporary Part Time Teacher of PE (Maternity Cover) is available from April 2024 and is offered on a fixed term contract expected to end April 2025.

PE is a core subject for all pupils from Year 3 to Year 11 inclusive and a key part of our pupils’ experience.  We aim to provide a wide range of opportunities so that all of our pupils can develop their skills and confidence, both within curriculum lessons and through our outstanding extra-curricular provision. Our aim is that, whether playing competitively in teams, at elite level, or enjoying physical activity for fitness and wellbeing, there is something to inspire all of our pupils. We also benefit from outstanding facilities, extended and enhanced in 2018, which include a sports hall, gymnasium, fitness suite, mind and body studio and all-weather pitch.

Our pupils have achieved much success in sporting competitions and the successful applicant will join a department which is fully committed to sustaining these opportunities for our pupils.

The post holder will be required to teach PE across all year groups, including teaching GCSE PE and A-Level PE. The post holder will also be expected to make a contribution to the vibrant extra-curricular programme and to help to promote the Department to maintain and improve student standards.
