Ruth Bayley Competition 2022
The Ruth Bayley Competition is an annual event that inspires great creativity in Withington pupils through a set brief. This year’s challenge was to create a miniature piece of artwork using a match box. We have received lots of creative and impactful miniature artworks that have been shortlisted by the Art Department, and final judging will be by our guest judge WGS alumna Deshna Shah. Deshna left Withington in 2017 and has recently graduated with a First in Fine Art from the University of Oxford. She is currently a graduate intern with Christie’s.
WGS alumna Ruth Bayley, a successful illustrator of many children’s books, left a generous gift to Withington in her will and the illustration competition was set up in her memory. We would like to thank the executors of her will for their continued support.
In the final assembly, the winners of this year’s competition were announced and the miniature art is now on exhibition in the foyer area for all to enjoy.
