Junior School full of Music and Song!

As Junior girls begin a mammoth mission to record their annual summer musical production – this year it’s Peter Pan – we take a look back at Music Recital recordings made earlier in the year.

Music Recitals are regular events at Withington and the pandemic has certainly not stopped any of our music traditions.  Performances have been done differently, but all the shows have definitely gone on and, in many cases, reached wider audiences than they would otherwise.

Junior Music Recitals were filmed at home during the lockdown, with the help of parents, and these performances were put together and sent out to all parents and pupils, ensuring that the spirit of performance was kept well and truly alive during the lockdown in the first months of 2021. The videos on this page are just a selection from nearly 30 individual recordings.

When pupils returned in March, it was wonderful to hear the melodies of  Junior Choirs and Instrumental Ensembles once again. These groups recommenced on the return to School and the girls have thoroughly enjoyed singing and playing instruments together again. Unfortunately, a big live musical production is still not possible but Junior girls have been able to have a lot of fun singing and dancing their way through rehearsals and are now ready to record the show with appropriate covid protocols. Once again, the recording will be shared with parents and the wider Withington community.
