Harvest Celebrations and Giving

The Senior School Harvest Festival Assembly took place on 24th September with the Junior School following a few days later on the 27th.

There was a fantastic array of gifts of food by WGS pupils and their families, all of which were delivered to the Booth Centre in the school minibus.

Charlotte from the Booth Centre, who gave an enlightening talk on the causes and effects of homelessness, and of the Booth Centre’s multi-stranded approach to providing support for Manchester’s homeless.

The Junior Harvest Assembly was presented by Year 3 pupils, only into their fourth week at Withington.  They focused on the colours of Harvest when they presented their assembly to, first the school, then their parents the following week. They certainly impressed with the delivery of their lines, remembering their dance moves and their beautiful singing.

Thanks to our parents’ generosity, we were able to create a rainbow-themed display of harvest gifts to donate to those less fortunate than ourselves. The centrepiece was a beautiful harvest loaf and bread rolls, freshly made by Julie in the kitchen, and enjoyed by the girls later in the day.

Susie from the Fallowfield and Withington Food Bank, just down the road from School, visited to accept our donations and to tell the girls a little about how their harvest gifts would help others.
