DofE Gold Practice Expedition

Very many congratulations to the 30 Year 12 girls who have successfully completed their practice expedition for the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, which took place from Wednesday 23rd to Friday 26th Ocotober. Starting from Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales, the girls walked in groups over Ingleborough, down to their first campsite in Horton in Ribblesdale.

From there, on the second day, they walked across to Malham and around the Tarn before setting up camp at Arncliffe.

On the final day, the girls then walked over the top of the fell into Kettlewell and from there down the valley into Grassington. Unfortunately, the weather was not kind and initially was simply cold and windy, but by the third day, the expedition was completed in torrential rain.

We were delighted to see the teams gel together and show real determination and resilience that enabled them to all reach the final checkpoint in good spirits. Many thanks to Al Griffith and his team of mountain leaders who supported the girls at every step of the expedition.
