A Trio of of Trios at the Spring Musical Showcase

Over 100 girls took part in the Musical Showcase on 25th March with a varied programme of music performed by the Thursday Singers, Stage Band, Flute Ensemble, Vocini, Brass Ensemble, Middle School Orchestra, Clarinet and Saxophone Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Senior Choir, Senior Orchestra, Oboe Ensemble, Middle School Strings, Junior Brass Ensemble, Harp Ensemble and Middle School Choir.

‘Anything Goes’, our new musical theatre ensemble, gave fantastic renditions of Alexander Hamilton from Hamilton and What I Did for Love from Chorus Line.

The audience were treated to a trio of superb trios! Two on piano, violin and flute: Miranda K, Marialena  and Emily C performed Trio Sonata in C minor 1st Movement, by Johann Joachim Quantz and Viola B, Georgia C and Fiona M gave a fantastic performance of Libertango by Astor Piazzolla. Asha J, Olivia M and Hana K performed Haydn’s Gypsy Rondo – Presto 3rd Movement on piano, violin and cello.

Director of Music, Mrs Sargent, said: “ A wonderful way to end the term with a real wealth of music – traditional, classical, film and musical theatre – there was something for everyone. The talent at Withington never ceases to amaze me. Well done to all who took part – what a send-off to our wonderful Year 13s.”
