Third Form Trips to Ghyll Head 2017

It was with great excitement and anticipation that the Third Form girls, along with their Form Tutor team, Sixth Form Peer Supporters and Heads of Year, set off for their residentials at Ghyll Head in September.

As ever, the stays in this rambling old house provided the chance to explore this small corner of the beautiful Lake District and to get to know each other better.

We were blessed with good weather, so were able to enjoy the range of outdoor activities, such as the climbing wall, the zip wire, the ropes course and teambuilding challenges without getting wet!

There were, of course other challenges awaiting us on this trip. We all braved the night line in the pitch dark of the woodland, scrambled up a very full Lakeland ghyll and tried our hand at building rafts from canoes to paddle our way across the longest lake in England, Lake Windermere.

What the girls also learnt, however, was a little more about their ability to “feel the fear and do it anyway”, and how to take good care of themselves and each other.

All our Senior pupils will be familiar with the Ghyll Head routine of washing up duty, making up your own bed and the nightly cup of hot chocolate, made with care by the Peer Supporters. It is clear that many memories were made during our visits to Ghyll Head again this year – we hope that the girls will cherish these as much as we do.
