Junior English Week

Juniors had an English themed week at the beginning of October with visits from two authors. Mrs Kate Pankhurst talked about her book, Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World.

Mrs Pankhurst, who is related to Emmeline Pankhurst, spoke about the amazing achievements of the women she had featured in her book. She also showed the girls her sketchbook with beautiful illustrations and went through some of the fantastic facts about some of the incredible women who have helped shape our world.

Then, later in the week, former Withington pupil, Jo Welch, author of The Einstein Code and The Darwin Code, came in to do a writing and coding workshop with each Year group, which all the girls thoroughly enjoyed.

These two author-led events were most inspirational for Junior girls.

Upper II were also treated to a talk by author, Emma Chapman, at Founders’ Day who inspired us all with her journey from Withington pupil to author of two best-selling books.
