Class of 1997 Reunion

On Saturday 24th June, Toni and Claire from the Development Team welcomed members of the Class of 1997 back to school for their 20th anniversary reunion. The afternoon was to consist of tea, cake and a tour of the school, and had been coordinated by Ayesha James (nee Bramwell).

We were delighted that over 20 Old Girls from the Class of 1997 were able to join us. Some in attendance had not seen each other since leaving school, and so for the first hour of the reunion our guests brought each other up to date with 20 years of news. The Class of 1997 then enjoyed a tour around the school, which has changed considerably since they were here. The new Hub and Junior School areas were very well received, with guests commenting on what welcome additions they are to the school, and they were really interested to hear about the planned developments to Withington’s sports facilities.

After the tours were over, our guests spent more time reminiscing in the Founders’ Room, and looking through a selection of old newsletters, play programmes and photographs from their time at Withington before saying their farewells and heading home. Before they left, though, they seized the opportunity to take class pictures around the ‘Withington Girls’ School’ stone by the Main Entrance!

It was fantastic to be able to welcome so many of the Class of 1997 back to school for the afternoon, and to hear about what they’ve been up to since leaving Withington. We hope everyone who attended had a great afternoon, and enjoyed catching up with school friends 20 years on!
