Art Exhibition 2017

We were delighted to welcome parents, pupils and friends to our annual GCSE, AS and A2 Art Exhibition on 25th May.

This year, our very talented Upper Sixth artists entitled the exhibition Experience as they felt it encapsulated the very personal nature of their artwork, and their coursework projects in particular.

The girls have drawn on their own life experiences to inspire and inform their work and this is what enables it to be so wonderfully varied and successful.

We were very pleased and proud to again present the exhibition in our wonderful Hub space. The artwork looked absolutely stunning and so very professional in this perfect location, with its bright white walls and streaming light.

It is testament to the outstanding talents of all pupils that we were able to present the work very much in an art gallery format, without overloading the exhibition boards with preparatory work. We allowed the breath-taking pieces to stand alone and speak for themselves. Booklets of preparatory work and sketchbooks were also on display and stood up as pieces of artwork in themselves!

All pupils worked tremendously hard to produce the body of work on display and I would like to congratulate them all on the quality and imagination of their work.

My heartfelt thanks, as always, go to my wonderful team, Zoe Taylor, Julia Johnston and Nikki Armstrong, without whom this exhibition simply would not take place. It is an absolute pleasure to work with them all. Also, to Eliott, for his design work and ‘can-do’ attitude; the site team, for their muscles which have brought all of the boards, tables and easels to the Hub and, of course, to our catering team for the superb refreshments provided on the night.
