Senior Choir of the Year at Bowdon

We were absolutely thrilled that ‘Vocini’ – our mixed year group choir – won the Senior Choir of the Year category at the Bowdon Music Festival last night.  Rehearsed and directed by singing teacher Ms Fiona Clucas, the choir is made of 30 girls from Years 7-10.

Seven choirs were competing at the festival, which was held at St Mary’s Church, Bowdon. Against very strong competition, especially from St Ambrose, adjudicator David Hoult thought the WGS choice of music to be the most challenging of the evening. He also commented on the girls’ excellent diction and sense of ensemble. The girls sang ‘Look to this Day’ by Bob Chilcott and ‘The Lake Isle of Innisfree’.

It was lovely to see so many parents supporting the girls’ performance – they were absolutely thrilled at the WGS victory at what was a truly wonderful evening. The choir is establishing an excellent reputation having won at the Alderley Edge Music Festival earlier in the year. The girls were presented with a MASSIVE trophy and also won £50 for the School. Well done all!
