Form I at Robinwood

On 26th February, Form I girls, accompanied by Mrs Stallard, Mrs Sargent and Mrs Fasa, boarded the coach excitedly for their adventure at Robinwood in Todmorden, Lancashire.

On arrival, we all trekked up the hill to our headquarters, where we had a picnic and then divided into two groups – the ‘Hills’ and the ‘Valleys’ – before diving straight in to all the activities. The Hills went caving through a ‘secret’ underground trapdoor in a ‘time-gone-by’ classroom and the ‘Valleys’ went to the much anticipated Piranha Pool!

The Piranha Pool did not fail to deliver. It challenged the girls to work as a team and break out of the room before the ‘piranhas’ were released! Caving was such fun too. The girls crawled around in the man-made caves under the foundations of the old school.

They then played an exciting game of Hide and Seek in the pitch black. After a challenging time on the climbing wall before dinner, the girls wrapped up for their final challenge of the night, The Night Line. They wore blacked-out goggles and had to lead themselves and each other around an agility course, requiring great trust in one another and good teamwork. Then it was time for pyjamas, hot chocolate and bed! Everyone went quietly off to sleep – so exhausted that they couldn’t wait to get to bed.

Day Two started with a delicious full English breakfast and then we got straight down to having more fun. ‘Valley’ Group headed off to archery while ‘Hills’ Group faced the Piranha Pool and both groups conquered the ‘Crate Challenge’, building a crate tower whilst tottering on top of it. Everyone faced their fears and showed real bravery. Team work was essential and the girls were all amazing.

After lunch we thanked all the staff for a fantastic time and boarded the coach back home. We were all very sad to leave, but we left with great memories of a fabulous stay.

Form I are away on their residential trip. They are at Robinwood Activity Centre  in Lancashire for two days and here is what they’ve been up to!

Day 2 – Saturday 27th February

Here is Mrs Stallard’s report about the second day, after which everyone has returned safely home:

Day 2 started with a delicious full English breakfast and then we got straight down to having more fun. ‘Valley’ Group headed off to archery while ‘Hill’ Group faced the Piranha Pool and both groups conquered ‘Crate Challenge’, building a crate tower whilst tottering on top of it. Everyone faced their fears and showed real bravery.

Mrs Stallard and Mrs Fasa decided (in their naivety?) to join in with the crate building challenge and found themselves hoisted up 10 crates high along with the rest of the girls. Team work was essential and the girls were all amazing  – and kind and reassuring to their teachers.

After lunch we thanked all the staff for a fantastic time and boarded the coach back home. We were all very sad to leave, but we leave with great memories of a fabulous stay.

Day 1 – Last activities of the day

2016-03-02_224110

After a lovely dinner, the girls wrapped up for their final challenge of the night, The Night Line.  The girls wore sight depriving goggles and had to lead themselves and each other round an agility course.  They had to be fast so that the ‘squirrels’ didn’t catch them.  They worked well together as a team for this.  Then it was time for pyjamas, hot chocolate and bed!

Mrs Stallard was very impressed with how well the girls all went quietly off to sleep! They were so exhausted that they couldn’t wait to get to bed!
