Animal Magic!

On Thursday 18th June, the Biology Department took members of the Third Form to Chester Zoo. The visit was designed to link in with the topic on classification and a lesson by staff at the zoo had been organised for the start of the day. The girls were challenged to consider the differences between the five vertebrate groups, and had the opportunity to touch a live cockroach and corn snake. Exploring the Zoo afterwards was lots of fun and much attention was given to the seven-day-old baby giraffe. The day was thoroughly enjoyable and all returned with a greater knowledge and understanding of the importance of conservation of species and the role of zoos in that.
