Walk for Girls’ Education Worldwide

On a very windy lunchtime on Thursday 26th March, Withington girls joined with schools across the UK to walk around the world, 40,075km, to raise £250,000 for Plan UK’s projects to fund education for the world’s poorest girls.

Girls from Juniors to Sixth Form walked 1 km each aiming to raise £35 each in sponsorship. £35 could help support a girl’s education in Uganda by providing essential school items – including uniform, textbooks and pencils. Mrs Marks made her contribution by rowing 6k in the School’s Fitness Suite.

The campaign aims to support four million girls to get the education, choices and support they need to move themselves from a life of poverty, to a future with opportunity. Join the Plan for girls today. For more information visit: www.becauseiamagirl.org.uk

Donations can also be made on our Just Giving page.

The total raised so far is £1500 and counting. Thanks to all sponsors and to the girls for their efforts.
