Girls Go Gold!

A number of the School’s sports enthusiasts spent the day at the Girls Go Gold conference, organised by the Girls’ School Association, on 18th September at Bolton School. The conference, targeted at elite sportswomen who already represent their county or country and students studying GCSE or A-level PE, included an opening speech by Olympic rower, Helen Glover and closed with a speech by GB 800m runner Jenny Meadows.

The conference covered many aspects of sport, including a presentation about sports journalism by Sonia Oxley, Netball workshops with Tracey Neville and sports television production by Victoria Cotton. There were also sessions on topics such as Nutrition in Sport, Sports Psychology, Personal Training and Cardiovascular Science. Each year, this conference is a great source of inspiration for girls passionate about their sport, and this was no exception. Thanks to the GSA and Bolton School for aninspiring day!
