Disneyland France 2014

In July, 39 Lower Fourth pupils embarked on the annual trip to France and enjoyed an action-packed six days discovering the delights of France and a variety of French theme parks.

We started at Disneyland Paris and enjoyed a full day exploring the attractions and rides in the four lands. The day ended with the fireworks and laser show against the backdrop of the castle. Unfortunately there was a heavy cloudburst at this point so everything came to an end and we reluctantly made our way back to the coach.

Next stop was Parc Astérix and once equipped with our bright yellow or green ponchos we were ready for the thrills and spills of the roller coasters and even ventured on the water rides in the rain.

The sun shone as we set off south towards Futuroscope. Here we explored a variety of cinemas and simulators and some of us, including the staff, even danced with robots!  We were all entranced by the evening son et lumière show, projected onto huge screens of water, even if we did not quite understand the storyline of Lady Ô, but there was a happy ending.

Our final day in France was spent in the glorious sunshine in the picturesque port of la Rochelle. After a morning spent exploring the aquarium where we met the sharks and found Nemo, we had free time in which to explore the old town, indulge in some retail therapy and enjoy some of the local delicacies.

Many thanks to the valiant staff team of Mrs Morton, Ms Khan and Mr Eckersall who accompanied the trip and entered into the spirit of Disney 2014.
