A weekend in Paris
On the first weekend of the Spring Term, twelve Lower Sixth historians ventured across the Channel for a weekend in Paris. Accompanied by Head of History Ms Maher and Mrs Khan, they visited the key locations of Revolutionary Paris, in order to enhance their AS Level studies on the Causes of the French Revolution.
These included a whole day at the Palace of Versailles, a visit to the Conciergerie, the prison where the condemned were incarcerated before their horrible journey in the tumbrils to the guillotine at the Place de la Revolution (Place de la Concord today) and the Museé Carnavelet which has an entire floor covering aspects of the Revolution.
There were additional visits to Sainte-Chapelle, Notre Dame, Les Invalides, the Louvre, Sacré-Coeur Basilica and Montmartre plus some shopping on the Champs-Élysées and dining in the Latin Quarter.
