Junior School PhilSoc

On Monday 21st May Year 6 pupils from Manchester Grammar School joined Withington's Upper II in the Arts Centre for an exciting and informative lecture about DNA, given by Withington's Head of Chemistry Dr Cristina Vilela.

In a highly interactive and fascinating presentation, they learnt about what makes everybody who they are and how they inherit their characteristics from their parents.

The pupils were amazed and astounded by some incredible facts. For example, did you know that you have enough DNA that, in one continuous string, would reach the moon and back 80 times?

Thank you to Dr Vilela for such a fantastic lecture that made us think more deeply and want to find out more.
