Withington's biggest ever contingent of Duke of Edinburgh's Award participants took to the hills of the Peak District on Sunday and Monday, 22nd and 23rd April, braving hail showers but seeing some sunshine too, in pursuit of their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze awards.

The practice walk, ahead of the qualifier in early July, saw 70 Lower Fifth girls split into two groups and start out from Hope and Grindleford, 'crossing over' at the overnight campsite at North Lees near Hathersage.
