Physics Shell Stopper!

Shell stopper – you'll never crack again … was just one of the catchy slogans that came out of our Physics STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Day held in the week before Easter break.

The Lower Fifth girls were asked to design and make a crash test vehicle for Mr and Mrs [hard boiled] Egg, cost their prototype and prepare a marketing campaign.  Whilst the emphasis was always on the engineering aspect of the brief, teamwork and communication were vital skills that were needed for successful completion of the car.

STEM Day

The highlight had to be the crashing of the vehicles at the end – would their eggs survive? Some of the girls were surprised they had enjoyed the day so much whilst others said there was something for everyone whether it was design, building, accountancy or marketing.
