Travel Award Winner Chloe’s Charity Half-Marathon

Chloe in Namibia in September 2011
2011 leaver Chloe Honeyborne was so touched by her time volunteering for charity Elephant Human Relations Aid (EHRA) in Namibia, that she is running the Central Lancashire New Year Half-Marathon in aid of the organisation.

Chloe spent the whole of September in Namibia on a trip partially funded by a Withington Onwards Travel Award, where she worked on projects to lessen the human/elephant conflict in Namibia and protect water pumps and windmills from the damage done by desert adapted elephants. A full report of her trip can be found here.

Having seen first-hand the incredible difference EHRA's work is making to subsistence farmers and the tourism industry in Namibia, the charity is incredible close to Chloe's heart, and she is undertaking the 22 kilometre run in aid of the charity's appeal to raise funds for a new Land Cruiser to help them continue their good works.

If you would like to support Chloe in her fundraising activities, please contact her via the Development Office to make a donation. We look forward to hearing news of her progress in the new year.

*Update* – Congratulations to Chloe, who completed the Half-Marathon in two hours and thirty minutes and raised £603.51 for EHRA!
