Withington in Business – 1st December 2011

Current and former pupils, parents and former members of staff are warmly invited to attend our 'Withington In: Business' event, which is being held on Thursday 1st December 2011 at School, between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

At the event, we will welcome two guest speakers, Sandra Chalmers (1958 Year Leaver) and Belinda Carp (née Salem, 1985 Year Leaver) to speak informally about their careers as businesswomen and their thoughts on female entrepreneurialism. The event will be a great opportunity to meet up with old friends back at school, as well as hearing these interesting and engaging Alumnae speak about their careers thus far.

Sandra Chalmers is Director of Chalmers Communications, her communications consultancy which is based in London. Previously, Sandra was Editor of the award-winning BBC 'Woman's Hour' programme in the 80s and was subsequently Head of BBC Radio Press, PR & Promotions. She then became Director of Communications for worldwide charity Help the Aged and has served on a number of Boards in the voluntary sector. Belinda Carp is Director of Sales, Marketing and Business Development at Textiles Intelligence, who provide business information and market intelligence on the fibre, textile and clothing industries for organisations all over the world. Belinda is also a member of the Board of Directors for the International Apparel Federation.

This event is ideal for anyone seeking to learn more about entrepreneurialism, or for those who would just like to meet these inspirational women. Tickets for this special evening are now available, free of charge with a suggested donation of £5 towards the Withington Bursary Fund, and we would be delighted to welcome both you and your guests to the event, and cheese and wine will be served during further discussion following the speakers' presentations.

We do hope you are able to join us at what promises to be an interesting and convivial evening. We anticipate that the event will prove popular, so would ask you to reserve your place, informing us of any guests you would like to bring, by completing our Online Booking Form, or by contacting Laura in the Development Office on 0161 249 3494, as soon as possible before Monday 28th November.
