Big Schools’ Birdwatch

For the second year running, the Junior School took part in the RSPB's Big Schools' Birdwatch. The Outdoor Club, from Upper II, have been helping to keep the birds supplied with food in the trees at the bottom of the field and small groups took turns to watch between 8.15 and 9.15am.

Big Schools Birdwatch

Rosie wrote this account:

On the 1st February, when it was still getting light, a group of us went to the top of the school field and laid out some old plastic bags to sit on (we cleared them up afterwards). Binoculars at the ready, we sat and waited quietly. Then, out of the blue, we heard pigeons calling to each other. As the sun rose, the types of bird got better and better until on the lacrosse pitch we saw 14 starlings, the perfect way to finish. Other species included a robin, blue tits, a great tit, sparrows and even a song thrush.
