Keep on Running!

From 15th-19th November, the PE Department and the Development Office held the Keep On Running competition in Withington's brand-new Fitness Suite.

The competition was held to raise awareness of the new Fitness Suite and to raise money for the Bursary Appeal, which is little over £10,000 away from its initial target of £2million. Houses were awarded Points based on distance travelled and sponsorship raised for Bursaries.  Girls used the equipment in the Fitness Suite before School, at break, at lunchtime and after School, and there was ample opportunity for everyone to take part.

The competition was open to girls from UIV onwards, and to staff, and was very closely fought.  The large leaderboard in reception was updated each evening with that day's distances,  proving an excellent motivator to girls and staff alike!  The Third Form and Lower Fourths both did their bit to raise money for the Appeal during that week as well, by paying to participate in a House Dodgeball contest.  Between them, they raised over £100 for the Bursary Appeal.

At the end of the week, Scott were triumphant after having travelled 632.31km, with Herford coming in at a close second on 585.75km.  Lejeune were in third place, having travelled 468.98km, with Simon in fourth place on a respectable 378.63km.

Girls have until Wednesday 8th December to return their sponsor money to the Development Office, with the house that raises the most money being awarded house points in the final assembly on the last day of term.
