Another stunning set of GCSE results for 2010!

Withington’s GCSE students bade a star-spangled farewell to retiring headmistress Mrs Janet Pickering with another outstanding set of examination results.   Out of a year group of 83 girls, 96.5% of all papers were awarded A* or A grades; most candidates took nine full GCSE subjects and one short course. All of them – 100% – achieved all A*-C grades with one girl gaining 12 A* grades, four gaining 11 A*s and a further 25 scoring ten A* grades.  In all, 70 girls gained all A* or A grades. Mrs Pickering, who is retiring after ten years as Headmistress said she was “extremely proud” of all the girls and the staff alike, not just because of these outstanding results, but also because of their many extra-curricular achievements that also made a massive contribution to the wonderful ethos and atmosphere within the School.
