Entente cordiale
After a busy week in Manchester which included visits to Manchester United's museum, Styal Mill and The Apprentice House, Chester and the Museum of Science and Industry as well as a comprehensive social calendar of events organised by our pupils, the The Lycée des Flandres in Hazebrouck, played host once again during the Easter break to Withington's fourth French Exchange. |

Sixteen Withington pupils and eight boys from MGS, were made very welcome during their week-long stay. |

During their stay they enjoyed an invigorating session of sand yachting on the beach at Dunkirk, visited La Coupole museum situated in a gigantic underground bunker designed by the Nazis where the V2 rockets were stored and prepared for launch and visited the In Flanders Fields Museum at Ypres, dedicated to the fallen in the Great War. Other visits included the impressive La Piscine art deco art gallery, a nature reserve near St Omer and crêpes and lemonade in a Belgian estaminet in Cassel where pupils enjoyed playing traditional games. |
