When the number of entrants from Withington exceeded the number that could be accommodated at any of the Race for Life events held in Manchester earlier in the year, Ms Maher and Mrs Pickering decided to stage our own event, dubbed WiGS 4 Life.

On Sunday 14th September more than 200 WGS pupils, staff and female family members –  most wearing garish ‘WiGS’- ranging from babes in pushchairs to grannies in trainers ran a 4k route around the School local area. Almost £3,500 has been raised for Cancer relief UK.
